Tupping Bristol

Last night some gits in the form of hoodie kids tried to steal my bikes.  The landlord knocked on our door at about 7.30pm to say that the neighbour had seen a group of youngsters heading up his drive with bolt cutters.  Now my bikes are secured with some serious chains - one has a chain and padlock designed for chaining motorbikes, the other has a heavy duty bike lock, but both could probably be cut given enough time and the right tools.

The landlord has now very nicely given us the keys to his garage where I can keep my bikes from now on.  He's getting us a spare set of keys to a small alley that runs next to his garage so that we can use that.  I'm much happier with this arrangement - I've never been happy having the bikes outdoors.  They might be chained up and tucked away, but they're still open to both determined thieves and the elements.  Kept indoors I can take better care of the bikes as well - oiling them more often since they'll be dry.

This is yet another thing that's puching me to get out of this godawful city.  You can say that crime is everywhere, and that even in a quiet rural part of the country bikes get stolen, but to be honest it happens just too often here.  This is, what, the third attempt someone has made to make off with my lovely bikes, and it's no longer opportunistic thieves - this was a planned burglary.  Grr tupping arse.
