I went bowling last night with Jam and some of his work friends. The guy who drove us there was the most insane driver I have ever known! I have to say I didn't think much of him, and my dislike for him grew as we drove through Bristol. He's a rally driver, and it shows. You'd think if you rally drive for a hobby or for a profession that you'd be able to leave that kind of insane, dangerous driving on the track and drive like a normal person on the roads.
You'd be wrong.
I was seriously scared for a large part of the journey. He accellerated as fast as he coupld get his car to go (and I'm thankful that it was a fairly heavy car, or I'm sure he would have been accellerating faster), driving above the speed limit where ever he could get away with it, and braking way too sharply. When there's a good amount of traffic on the roads you save yourself absolutely no time by driving like that! Though he did swerve in and out of the lanes to skip a few cars ahead when he could get away with it.
The scariest bit was on the motorway. There'd been some misunderstanding of where we were meeting as we ended up driving out to Cribbs Causeway - a good ten miles out of the city - when we were in fact supposed to meet fairly centrally. So this guy was trying to get us to our destination quickly. He was driving along the roadworked section of the M4 - with a 50mph limit no less - at what was undoubtedly over 90mph. Amy, his girlfriend, claimed he was doing 110 but I'm not sure about that. I watched as the 1/2 mile sign for our exit panned past, and clearly our driver was trying to race the lorries in the lane to our left to get to the exit quickly. At the last minute he spotted the speed cameras and slammed on the brakes. The car juddered terrifyingly as the ABS system kicked in, and the car lurched.
I really hope he got caught, and I really hope he was doing 80 or so and gets done for dangerous driving. The bastard nearly killed us all!
Not only was he driving like a mad thing, he was constantly slagging people off. During the journey he made fun of two cyclists, an overweight lady, and several joggers. He was moaning about 'bloody cyclists' holding up the traffic, and I was *that close* to smacking him.
I seriously cannot see what Amy sees in him. She's a lovely girl, and he's a lunatic with an attitude problem. I will not be getting a lift from him again.

On the good side, I whopped Jam at bowling! 129 in my second game. :)
